10 Astounding Things You Should Know About Orgasms

Orgasms are quite possibly the best and most fun part of women’s health. Here are 10 Astounding Things You Should Know About Orgasms!

1. Orgasms for pain relief Even if you’ve ‘Got a headache’, maybe you should have sex after all.

Oxytocin released during orgasm facilitates bonding, relaxation and other positive emotional states. Pain relief from orgasm is short-lived—usually only about eight to 10 minutes—and some research indicates that even just thinking about sex can help alleviate pain!

2. Condoms don’t affect orgasms Women are equally likely to experience orgasm with or without a condom, meaning safe sex is good sex. Using condoms may help a couple spend more time having sex, as a man doesn’t have to ‘pull out’ quickly if he’s worried about ejaculating too soon.

3. Many women have trouble reaching orgasm Ever had trouble climaxing? You’re not alone. As many as 1 in 3 women have trouble reaching orgasm when having sex. And as many as 80 percent of women have difficulty with orgasm from vaginal intercourse alone.

4. G-spots might not be real Can you identify your G-spot? The “G” refers to Ernst Gräfenberg, MD, a German gynaecologist who is credited with “discovering” it in the 1950s, and sex experts have long touted this area of female genitalia, which is believed to contain a large number of nerve endings, as the key to helping women achieve longer and stronger orgasm. But it’s a controversial topic. Researchers in England refuted its existence recently, even after Italian researchers supposedly found the spot on ultrasound and published their findings in The Journal of Sexual Medicine.

5. Orgasms only get better as you get older The quality and frequency of orgasms actually improve with age, likely because as women become more sexually experienced, they are more confident and therefore enjoy themselves more.

6. Mix things up for more frequent orgasms It is far easier for women to experience an orgasm when they engage in a variety of sex acts and positions. What’s not to like? More sex, in more ways will equal more orgasms!

7. How you feel about your genitals can affect the quality of your orgasms There is no ‘perfect’ way for a vagina to look. Increase your orgasm potential by increasing your sexual confidence, get to know yourself down there and love your pleasure nerve centre and amazing part of your body for what it is.

8. Men have more regular orgasms A significant percentage of women report not having had an orgasm the last time they had sex, even when their male partner thought they had. Learning your body’s pleasure points and teaching them to your partner can help you to orgasm regularly. READ MOREList of Australian Subscription Boxes for Kids

9. In rare cases, orgasms are uncontrollable Last year, we reported about Cara Anaya, who suffers from Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder and experiences up to six hours of spontaneous sexual arousal each day.

Some women can experience spontaneous orgasms during certain activities due to increased blood flow to the genitals and vibration of or contact with the clitoris. The increased blood flow and the general relaxation of a massage can sometimes lead to orgasm too.

10. It takes a while Most women require at least 20 minutes of sexual activity to climax. Most men, do not. Foreplay and slowing down the action will help extend the time you may need.

If premature ejaculation is a concern, your partner may want to see their doctor for some assistance. Have you got any other orgasm facts we should know?
