Mucus or discharge from the vagina is a condition known as vaginal discharge. Normal vaginal discharge will be characterized by a clear and odorless texture. While vaginal discharge is abnormal, it usually occurs due to a fungal, viral, and parasitic infection. The following types of vaginal discharge are categorized by color and consistency.

• Leucorrhoea due to fungal infections will be characterized by thick white liquid. Leucorrhoea can be accompanied by itching or swelling around the vulva.
• Leucorrhoea caused by bacterial vaginosis will be marked with white, yellow, or gray, and a strong fishy odor. Leucorrhoea can be accompanied by itching and swelling.
• Leucorrhoea caused by trichomoniasis infection will be marked in yellow or green, with a thick, thick texture, or accompanied by an abnormal foul odor. Trichomoniasis infection itself can spread through intimate relationships.
• Leucorrhoea due to cervical cancer will be marked with a brown color with a little blotch of blood. See a doctor immediately at the nearest hospital if symptoms are accompanied by pelvic pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding.
• Leucorrhoea due to gonorrhea will be marked in yellow, and accompanied by pelvic pain.

Abnormal or normal vaginal discharge, both can occur because of the triggering factors that influence. Some of these include dietary factors, not maintaining proper vaginal hygiene, menstrual cycles, consumption of certain drugs, consumption of contraceptive pills, use of pads or pantyliners, breastfeeding, being pregnant, excessive activity, or experiencing severe stress.

 

Steps to Prevent Leucorrhoea

Abnormal vaginal discharge needs to be prevented, because it is a feature of infection from the female organs. Here are some steps to prevent abnormal vaginal discharge in women:

• Clean the vagina with special soap and warm water after urinating or defecating, then dry.
• Do not clean the vagina with water spray, because it will eliminate the good bacteria in the vagina.
• Don't use tight underwear with materials that don't absorb sweat.
• Do not use feminine products with detergent or perfume content, because it can disturb the pH balance in the vagina.
• Change pads every 3-5 hours.
• Do not change partners in sexual relations.
